Due to the Coronavirus it has been necessary to cancel all workshops from 15th March – 3rd April. We are hoping to be able to run our workshops again from the 4th April, but we will see what the next few weeks brings for us all, and will update you as soon as we know. 11th May – 3-7pm – £55
At this workshop you will learn simple dressmaking and make a pinafore dress from a sewing pattern. Sew Dotty will show you step by step how to use the pattern, cutting out, making pockets, sewing up your pinafore dress and adding rivet buttons and pinafore buckles to finish the look! Great for those new to dressmaking!
You will need 2m of fabric to make the pinafore dress – either fineline “baby” corduroy, denim, canvas etc. John Lewis have a fabulous selection in their haberdashery department!
Upcycling Denim Skirts, Jeans & Jackets!
21st July – 3-7pm – £50
At this workshop you will learn simple dressmaking upstyling! … how to upcycle denim! … make a pair of old jeans into a skirt … individually style and add trimmings, lace, ribbon, edging, fabric to your denim jacket to upcycle! The opportunities are endless and recycling old denim into something usable again! You will need to bring either a denim jacket or a pair of jeans (charity shops are a good place to pick these up!). We will use a wide selection of pretty fabrics, trimmings, lace, vintage lace etc to make your desired look! A great workshop to learn simple dress making skills, altering clothing etc too!
Choose from: Pleated Tote Bag, Reversible Bag, Tote Bag with Leather Handles , Basic Cushion, Reversible Cushion & Oilcloth Sewing Machine Cover & sew on!

At the Sewing Day you can choose from making a peg bag, mini ironing board for your sewing room/utility room, a reversible bag, messenger bag, pom-pom edged cushion, reversible cushion, piped cushion, child’s reading cushion (with handle and pocket for a book!) or an oilcloth sewing machine cover. You will need to let the experience desk know which items you would like to make upon booking!
Learn to Sew – My First Sewing Lesson – Parent & Child (Cushion or Bunting)
14th April – 10am-1pm OR 2pm-5pm £45
Learn how to sew from scratch! … your first sewing lesson! … Winding up bobbins, threading your machines, sewing around corners, straight stitch, zig zag stitch & sew on! Once you’ve had practice on the sewing machine you will then cut out your cushion using a pattern & then sew up a basic envelope cushion complete with fluffy feather pillow! … or choose to make a 2m length of bunting! Minimum age of child from 8 years, child is to be accompanied with a parent/guardian for the duration of the workshop. Let us know if you would prefer to make a cushion or bunting when you book!

Such a great every day bag which is lined, with an inside pocket and durable and classy leather handles (suitable for vegans too). Cut your bag from a pattern, learn how to box corners to add dimension to your bag and add the leather handles to complete the look!

Would you like to make cotton pyjama bottoms? … they will be made from dressmaking fabric (there will be a choice on the day) Pyjama’s will be cut from a sewing pattern and available in sizes 8-18 (please let the experience desk know which size you require when you book!). Sew Dotty will talk you through using a sewing pattern & how to follow the pattern and you will go home with a fabulous pair of cotton pj’s and the know how to make more!
